Grace Evelyn Hawkins
July 5, 1925 — November 4, 2017
Grace Evelyn Hawkins, 92 years young, of French Lick, Indiana passed peacefully on November 4th, 2017 at Springs Valley Meadows, French Lick, Indiana.
She was born in French Lick, Indiana on July 5th, 1925 to Harry H. and Bernice Marie (Tarr) Clark.
Grace married Clifford “Jack†Hawkins on May 16th, 1943 and he preceded her in death on April 28th, 2004.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, (1) Brother – Glen Shipman and (1) Sister – Norma Jean Popa.
Grace was member of The Order of the Eastern Star French Lick Chapter #249, P.E.O., Christian Women’s Fellowship, Beechwood Christian Church and was a 1943 graduate of French Lick High School.
She was the secretary/treasurer at Springs Valley Elementary School where she retired and was an avid Band Booster.
Grace enjoyed gardening and loved to travel having been to all 50 states as well as three trips to Europe and one to Israel.

(1) Son Dr. Stephen S. Hawkins San Francisco, California
(1) Daughter Mary Jacalyn Nelson (William) Rock Island, Illinois
(2) Grandchildren Katherine Nelson New Orleans, Louisiana
Kyle Nelson (Makenzie Eckhardt) Davenport, Iowa
(1) Great-granddaughter Evelyn Nelson Davenport, Iowa
FUNERAL CEREMONY
A Funeral Ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Ashley Sherard on Thursday, November 9th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beechwood Christian Church in French Lick, Indiana. Interment will follow in Mount Lebanon Cemetery in French Lick, Indiana.
VISITATION
Friends may call Wednesday, November 8th, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brosmer-Kemple Chapel and on Thursday, November 9th, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Beechwood Christian Church.
The Order of the Eastern Star French Lick Chapter #249 will conduct a service on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Brosmer-Kemple Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Grace to the Beechwood Christian Church, P.O. Box 28, French Lick, Indiana 47432 or the P.E.O. Scholarship Fund.
