Mary Opal Kearby

Mary Opal Kearby, 95, of French Lick, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 16th, 2023 at Residences of Coffee Creek in Chesterton, Indiana.

She was born in French Lick, Indiana on January 10th, 1928 to Elwood and Alma (Young) Walters.

Mary married the love of her life Theodore “Ted” Kearby on February 1st, 1946 and they were married for 72 years.  
He preceded her in death on December 2nd, 2018.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; (4) Sisters - Elsie Mae Walters-in infancy, Betty Lou Walters, Joan Cook and Anna Marie Grunden; and (4) Brothers – Clarence, Glenn, Carrol and Norman Walters.

Mary was an active member at Hobart Christian Church and later at Cane Creek Christian Church.  Among various jobs during her life, the most memorable was at St. Mary’s Hospital in Hobart, Indiana.  Mary’s passions included family, church, gardening,   flowers and feeding the birds.

She is survived by:

Son – Paul Kearby (Debi) of The Villages, Florida            

Daughter – Linda Walker (Jack) of Valparaiso, Indaiana

Brothers – Harold “Jiggs” Walters (Mary Lou) of French Lick, Indiana
                 Wayne Walters (Dorothy) of Paoli, Indiana
                                        
Grandchildren – Lynette Timmons (Jason) and Paul Kennedy            

Great-Grandchildren – Matthew Kennedy and Jordan and Morgan Timmons.

Step-Grandson – Allen Lindahl (Deanne)

Step-Great-Grandchildren – Kaylee and Austin Lindahl

FUNERAL CEREMONY
A Funeral Ceremony will be conducted on Wednesday, June 21st, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home with burial to follow at Patoka Memorial Cemetery, French Lick, Indiana.

VISITATION
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 21st, 2023 from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the funeral home.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Dunes Hospice, 4711 Evans Avenue, Valparaiso, IN 46383
