Norma Jane Brosmer

French Lick

Norma Jane Brosmer, 92 of French Lick, Indiana entered into eternal rest on August 3rd, 2025 at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Jasper, Indiana.

She was born in Steubenville, Kentucky on March 15th, 1933 to Porter B. and Amy (Barnes) Koontz.

Norma was united in marriage on June 7th, 1952 to Raymond C. Brosmer and he preceded her in death on

September 17th, 2019.

She was also preceded in death by her Parents and Brother – Eugene Koontz.

Norma was a 1950 graduate of Wayne County High School and 1951 graduate of Bryant-Stratton Business College in Louisville, Kentucky.

She was a licensed insurance agent and retired from Springs Valley Bank where she had worked for many years in the insurance department and assisted in the operation of Brosmer-Drabing Funeral Home with her husband Raymond and partners Ben and Darlene Drabing. Norma owned and operated the Peach Tree Dress Shop in downtown French Lick and had worked for Chastain’s Dress Shop located in the French Lick Hotel. In 2007 she and Ray became active again in working alongside her grandson and daughter in operating Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home.

Norma was a member of First Baptist Church in West Baden, where she sang and played the organ for many years, and was also a long-time member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority, where she traveled with many of her sorority sisters to conventions throughout the United States.

She enjoyed playing bridge and the weekend get-a-aways with girlfriends for many years. Ray and Norma spent winters in Florida playing golf and dominoes with their Florida friends and after returning to Indiana full-time and unable to continue playing golf, she would watch PGA golf tournaments every weekend. She was an avid reader going to the library weekly getting new books, but one of her true loves was spending time with family and friends.

Norma is survived by:

Daughter – Karen Brosmer of French Lick, Indiana

Grandson – Aaron Kemple (Natasha) of West Baden Springs, Indiana

Great-Granddaughter – Tinley Raye Kemple of West Baden Springs, Indiana

Several nieces and nephews

PRIVATE FUNERAL CEREMONY

A Private Funeral Ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Tony Qualkinbush and Pastor John Moffatt on Friday,

August 8th, 2025 at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ames Chapel Cemetery.

VISITATION

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, August 7th, 2025 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Melton Public Library, 8496 W. College Street, French Lick, Indiana 47432 or Ames Chapel Cemetery, c/o Connie Kerby, 2225 N. County Road 575 W., West Baden Springs, Indiana 47469.
