Paul Anthony Gillon

April 9, 1935 — July 29, 2023

Bloomington

Paul Anthony Gillon, 88, of Bloomington, Indiana, formerly of West Baden Springs, entered into his eternal reward on Saturday morning, July 29th, 2023 surrounded by the love of family and friends.

He was born on April 9th, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Leo Paul and Corrinne Gertrede (Kenny) Gillon. After living in Detroit and Chicago, his family settled in West Baden Springs, Indiana in the late 1940’s. The Gillon’s were devout Catholics and Paul was an only child.

After graduating from West Baden Springs High School in 1953, Paul worked for many years as a librarian for the Jesuit Ministry at the West Baden Springs Hotel. He also worked for Wood Design and was self-employed in Forestry Management. His close friends liked to call him “Johnny Appleseed” as he was passionate about the Forest and all of creation. Paul also had a passion for cats, reading and working on bicycles and Jeeps.

He tried to attend Catholic Mass as often as possible and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He sincerely lived his entire life with loving kindness in his heart. He always had a smile on his face no matter the circumstances, a true Christian hero.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his entire Cooper/Land Homestead Family - Jerry and Jean Cooper, Mark and Theresa Cooper/Land, Dr. F Steven and Jenny Land, Dawn and Richard Siebert, Michelle Land, Max Land, Miles Land, Maggie Land, Jared Spano, Nicco Spano, Mateo Spano, cousins Cathy Wilson Barnes of Portland and Diane Wilson of Arizona, Al Manns, all of his wonderful caregivers who he loved so dearly who dedicated their lives to his care - Heather Riley, Kellie Riley, Joanna Finch and Dollie Manns. Special friends Dave and Marilyn Kessler and Steve and Debbie Riley.
