Richard E. Royer

Richard E. “Dick” Royer, 78 of Humble, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 5th, 2025 at Baylor Hospital in Houston, Texas after a long hard fought medical battle of six months. His physical strength and will to live impressed the medical team that attended to him in his final three weeks. No one out worked Dick Royer.

He was born to Elmer “Doke” and Jane Royer on June 5th, 1947.

He was baptized into the Christian faith as a boy and graduated from Springs Valley High School in 1965. He cherished the friendship of several classmates throughout his life. He worked hard to put himself through college at Indiana University where he earned a BS degree in the school of business, as well as the school of hard knocks. While in Bloomington, he developed an even closer tie to his Aunt Mary Ann and her precious family and forever maintained a close relationship with the Abel family.

He left Indiana at the age of 26 to conquer the world. His business career began in Houston where he eventually started his private business, The Faucet Doctor. He spent approximately 50 years building his company and was still working every day up until his medical situation forced him to step aside in April. He developed many close relationships with his customers in privately owned hardware stores across the southern United States.

He spent much of his final summer at his beloved beach house near Galveston. One of his proudest accomplishments was fighting a long legal battle with the state of Texas many years ago to maintain ownership of his property. His other battles at the beach house involved countless time and money to maintain the bulkhead and sea wall below the house as he fought back against the endless assault of the gulf waters beating against it. It surprisingly survived many hurricanes and provided many cherished memories for family and friends during his 40 years of ownership.

Son- Chris Royer of Humble, Texas

Sisters -Susan Farris (Mick) of West Baden Springs, Indiana

Nancy Conrad (Doug) of Springville, Indiana

He was proud to be the Funcle (Fun Uncle) to Darin, Krista, Kirbie, Logan and McKenna. Unfortunately, only a few of his 12 great-nieces and great-nephews and 3 great-great-nieces got to enjoy their Great Funcle Dick as it became harder for him to travel to Indiana as the family grew.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Beechwood Christian Church in French Lick on October 26th, 2025 with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 3:00 p.m.

Cremation was chosen.
