Roberta Powell

March 20, 1920 — July 4, 2014

Roberta Powell, daughter of Claude and Mary Jane Anderson Beyers was born March 20, 1920, in Orange County, Indiana.  She departed this life July 4, 2014.

In 1937, Roberta was united in marriage to Homer Brown.  They had two children, Doreatha Walls of Fort Wayne and Clark Brown of Bedford.  In 1948, she was married to Carl Powell.  They had three children, Mike Powell of Paoli, Kenny Powell French Lick, and Marsha Andrews of West Baden.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters Edith and Ethel, and five brothers Loranza, Leroy, Chester, Claude, and Manford.  Roberta was a member of the Springs Valley Church of the Nazarene.

Roberta loved to mushroom hunt in the spring.  She would fry them and take them to family and friends.  She and Carl had a camper and enjoyed trips to South Carolina to fish and see the fall colors.  She talked about the pretty mountains.

She loved her flowers and her herbs.  She liked to play Bingo at the Senior Citizens Center and continued to play at Medco.  Roberta liked to cook.  She made great hot rolls and chicken and dumplings.  She loved to play Skip Bo and it made her happy to beat Richard or anyone else at that game.

Going out to eat was something she enjoyed.  She made many quilts, afghans, scarfs, and hats.  She kept her hands busy for as long as she could.

Roberta will be missed by her family.  Surviving are daughter Doreatha (Richard) Walls, son Clark (Carolyn) Brown, son Mike (Mary Lou) Powell, son Kenny (Donna) Powell, daughter Marsha (Kenny) Andrews, and brother Jim (Royce) Springer.  She will also be missed by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Services are to be held Monday, July 7, at 1:30 PM at the Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home.  Friends may call from 11:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Reverend Darrell Wineinger will officiate.  The family thanks Darrell for all the visits he made to her.

Burial will follow in the Ames Chapel Cemetery in Paoli, Indiana.
