Stephen Douglas Spicer

Stephen D. Spicer, 71, of French Lick, Indiana, entered into eternal rest on June 12th, 2023 at his home.

He was born at Great Lakes Naval Station in Great Lakes, Illinois on September 11th, 1951 to 
Verne T. “Hal” and Arah June (Nicholson) Spicer.  

Steve was preceded in death by his Parents. 

The family moved around the U.S. while Steve’s father served in the United States Navy.  Steve attended school in Almeda, California; Adak, Alaska; Cuzco, Indiana and graduated from Springs Valley High School in 1970.
Steve then enlisted in the United States Navy and spent his enlistment based in Athens, Greece.  He returned home to Indiana and then served seven more years, where he worked as a submarine mechanic which led him to a career as a Nuclear Power Radiation Health Detection Specialist culminating 25 years at Detroit Edison in Monroe, Michigan.

Steve took early retirement to return to Indiana to care for his ailing mother.  He moved back to French Lick and was finally at home in the Valley.

He is survived by:

Daughter – Shannon Spicer (David Van Trump, II) of Valrico, Florida

Companion – Ruth Dickey Marshall of West Baden Springs, Indiana

Cousins – Bonnie Lagenour of Hillham, Indiana
                  

Cremation was chosen and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
