Thurman H. "J.R." Lancaster Jr.

Thurman H. “J.R.” Lancaster, Jr., 75, of Ferdinand, Indiana, formerly of French Lick, Indiana, entered into eternal rest on June 18th, 2021 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

He was born in Springfield, Ohio on August 26th, 1945 to Thurman H. Lancaster, Sr. and Myrtle (Brown) Ashcraft.

J.R. was preceded in death by his Parents; (1) Brother – Jack Lancaster and (1) Son – Bill Lancaster.

He was a graduate of Woodford High School in Versailles, Kentucky, had worked as a truck driver and retired from Towne Air Freight, and White’s Service.

J.R. was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his granddaughters.

He is survived by:

(4) Sons Lewis Lancaster (Jennifer) Munford, Alabama
Richie Lancaster (Rachel) Jasper, Alabama
John McEwen (Ashley) Ferdinand, Indiana
Jason Lancaster Huntingburg, Indiana

(1) Sister Rosemary Shuck Versailles, Kentucky

(2) Granddaughters Stella and Madisyn


Cremation was chosen and a private service will be held at a later date.
