Vernon Lee Wininger

June 6, 1924 — December 17, 2014

Vernon Lee Wininger, age 90, of French Lick, Indiana passed away on December 16th, 2014 at Johnson Christian Village in Bedford, Indiana.

He was born on June 6th, 1924 in Orange County, Indiana to Charles Audie Wininger and Della (Morris) Wininger.

Vernon married Leona A. Gilliatt on December 15th, 1950 and she survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, (2) Brothers – Wayne and James, and (2) Sisters – Phylis Nigg and Margaret Abel.

Vernon retired from Crane NSWC and served his county in the United States Army Air Force in World War II.

He was a member of the Red Quarry Christian Church and had been an elder there for over 35 years.


He is survived by:

Wife          Leona (Gilliatt) Wininger Evansville, Indiana

(1) Son Steven Lee Wininger (Jayne) Evansville, Indiana

(1) Daughter Anita Faye Triano (Mike) Orleans, Indiana

(1) Brother Gordon Wininger French Lick, Indiana


(2) Grandchildren (3) Great-Grandchildren


Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, December 19th, 2014, at the Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home in French Lick, Indiana. Friends may call from 3:00 PM on Friday until the time of service at the funeral home.

Darrell Land will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mount Lebanon Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home 9640 W. State Rd. 56 French Lick, In. 47432.
